Church Rehearsal

I just have to blog about this….

Our church has been through a lot of transition lately. Pastor, Interim Pastor, and now the search for our new Pastor. I have been through all of these transitions and sometimes they are draining. The Vision at MCC New Orleans includes a phrase “…and providing a powerful worship experience…”. I am definitely proud of this piece. We, the Music Dept, work hard!
Over the past few weeks I have been feeling alittle overwhelmed; between personal life, family life, church life, and the various organizations I work with. These feelings can become very burdensome.
However, all that changed last night…
We had rehearsal last night for this coming Sunday, Pentecost. I LOVE Pentecost, it gives the opportunity to sing some older, more upbeat songs and mostly about the spirit and the spirit fall down upon us.
Choir begins at 6:30pm, and most of the time we get a late start, which is fine with me. We fellowship, chat, and care for one another. However, last night rehearsal started promptly at 6:30pm. The ENTIRE team was there, the musicians, choir members, it was amazing. The sound that was coming out, the music, the instruments, everything just worked!! I can’t wait until worship on Sunday. I am truly thankful for such a great team of singers and musicians to work with, and very thankful to my church for allowing me the opportunity to be the director of such a great piece of our church.
We learned a new song to sing for Pentecost, Anointing Fall on Me. The original song was written by Donn Thomas, but Ron Kenoly changed it slightly. Below is the simple melody line of the song.
This song really speaks to me! The words, asking for the power of the Holy Ghost to send his/her anointing to fall on us. Just amazing lyrics.
