Song: Worthy of Worship

Worthy of worship,
Worthy of praise,
Worthy of honor and glory;
Worthy of all the glad songs we can sing,
Worthy of the offerings we bring.

You are worthy, Father, Creator.
You are worthy, Savior, Sustainer.
You are worthy, worthy of wonderful;
worthy of worship and praise.

Worthy of Worship was written in 1988, and included in the Baptist Hymnal in 1991. This song offers a beautiful melody that flows from the tongue singing praise to our Creator. The song begins with Worthy of Worship, Worthy of Praise – as our Creator and the one who saved us – God is worthy and is to be praised. Verses 1 and 2 paint a picture of our decisions and actions toward God; including singing, giving, bowing, etc.  These are not meant to be forced or required. As a Christian we should want to; want to give, sing, give praise and honor where its due and when we do – it feels good to give reverence to God. The chorus shows the reasons why God to is worthy of worship – Father, Creator, Savior, Sustainer. God is the reason we can sing – let’s give God praise!

God you are worthy of my praise!
-Ryan
