My church is doing a Broadway series and yesterday’s show was Rent. The play is set in New York and lives in the shadow of HIV/AIDS. In service we sang “Seasons of Love” and reflecting on some of the lyrics today:
“Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life
Of a woman or a man?”
In Orlando 50 people have lost their lives with dozens injured. These were innocent people who were the target of hatred and violence. When will this hatred and violence end?
I pray for all the victims of this tragedy, the families, friends, the LGBT community and the whole world as we continue to stand for equality, stand against hatred and violence and for peace in this troubling time.
