November 2015 Song of the Month
“You’re Worthy of My Praise” Words and music by David Ruis 1991
Shade Tree Music (Admin. by Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing, Inc.)
… I will give You all my worship I will give You all my praise You alone I long to worship You alone are worthy of my praise…
The beginning of this song starts with a line and then a repeat. A soloist would sing “I will worship” then a choir or congregation would repeat “I will worship”. There are two verses that follow this format. One interesting thing to think about is when there is a repeat you have the opportunity to hear the line and therefore know the melody, so it gives everyone the time to focus on what you’re going to sing.
The song is all about giving worship to God, which as stated in Revelations 4:11:
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
God is worthy to receive our praise! God created us and because of that we should want to give praise and worship to our God. Think about the lyrics of the song. God alone is worthy of our praise!
