“Before I bring my need
I will bring my heart
Before I lift my cares
I will lift my arms..”
Twenty-four year old Lauren Daigle, a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, has a new song released this year called “First”. She tells the story of finalizing everything to record the album “How Can It Be” and realizing God was laying something heavy on her heart.
Matthew chapter 6 has a message about not being anxious. A very common very is verse 33, which states:
But seek first the kingdom and Gods righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
As a singer Lauren pressures herself for perfection, and some of us do the same thing. However she realizes that it’s not about the number of singles or the record sales, its about keeping God first in all we do.
I love the words to this song. It reminds us that God should be first in our lives. Through all the hustle and bustle of life, through struggles and sickness, it might not always be easy but we should strive to keep God “First”.
