What an interesting title… Well, let me give some background. For those of you that know me know that I can read some music however for the most part I play by ear and chord out a lot of music. Recently at church we held a three week sermon series containing music and themes from Broadway Plays. Now this was a lot of fun, seeing people recognize the music and sing along was great! But, this wasn’t exactly easy for a ol’ fashioned Baptist piano player. This was challenging for me. Arranging Broadway scores, working with soloist and performing these songs was time consuming, but I can definitely say it was worth every minute! It was a great opportunity for me to break out of my comfort zone and try new things. I have always loved Broadway, but never had the desire to play Broadway. Well that has changed! I have a new found love for Broadway music, especially playing it.
Here were the Broadway Plays and music used over the past three weeks:
(note: I played all these songs during service, the ones with * also had a soloist)
