Christmas Eve Service

The Christmas season seemed to past by so fast this year.  Between work and everything the season just seemed to slip by…. However there is always an event or two that I am asked play Christmas music for and this year was no different. On Friday, December 6th, I was honored to play at New Orleans Pride’s Winter Extravanaga at Mags 940, on Thursday, December 18th the music department at church went to Project Lazarus for a Christmas Sing-in, and last night at the Christmas Eve Service at MCC New Orleans.  These were all great events! But now I want to reflect on the Christmas Eve service last night.  There was a lot of music, which everyone, including myself, enjoyed but there in the sanctuary reflecting on the birth of our savior and ending with a dark sanctuary holding candles singing Silent Night reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas.  The quiet time to reflect on the true reason for the season was definitely needed. My hands hurt by the end of the night, but the joy in hearing people sing in excitement the carols we hear each year was well worth it.

Here was the order of service:
1. Joy to the World
2. Welcome
3. Go Tell it on the Mountain
4. Advent Wreath
a. Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuel
5. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
6. The First Noel
7. The Christmas Story
8. O Little Town of Bethlehem
9. Sermon
10. Offertory
11. Angels from the Realms of Glory
12. It Came Upon a Midnight clear
13. Communion
14. Angels We Have Heard on High
15. Announcements
16. Silent Night
Great times!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
