Well… its Monday. Move Day.
I scheduled a moving truck for 8am. Around 6am, I couldn’t sleep anymore. Thinking about the move, the great times ahead, the amazing space we are moving from, moving to, and all the emotions and hard work that has gone in recently.
The truck was picked up at 7:30am. I was too excited to wait… As I drove to 1333 S. Carrollton I was reminded that this would be a joyous, yet emotional day. We began loading the truck with everything: filing cabinets, office desk, tables, chairs, technology, everything.. We then moved to the sanctuary moving the: digital piano, upright piano, the speakers, the music cabinets, the screen, projector, etc.. When the door of the moving truck closed I realized that this was it. I drove the truck to the new location and as the stuff was unloaded and placed in its new home, the feeling of overwhelming joy filled me. This was now home, many hours will be spent here, many worship services will be held here. Many new songs will be sung here, many new people will come here. The future is bright for our church.
I began to place things in the sanctuary and started playing the piano, the acoustics in the new building are amazing. The sounds just fill the space, I kept thinking “I can’t wait to get the choir in this space”, “I can’t wait for the congregation to sing here”, “I can’t wait to lead worship here”.
As the music director there is a lot of work ahead. Getting the sound right, getting the choir positioned correctly, just getting ready for worship. Things will be different here. I am ready for the opportunity to lead worship in this new space. God has presented MCCNO with an amazing opportunity here and I think we are ready for the challenge.
Wednesday night will be our first choir rehearsal in the new space, Sunday will be the first worship service in the new space. This is not much time to get everything in place and ready for worship, but the team is excited.
I am honored to be the Music Director for the Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans, and thoroughly excited for the new sanctuary, our new home.
